What is Chi Alpha?

Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship is a body of college students earnestly following Jesus, who come together to worship our amazing God, to learn His word and be discipled, to encourage one another and pray, and to have fun making friendships that will last a lifetime!

Even though our name is Greek, we’re not a fraternity or sorority. However, if you’re looking for brothers and sisters you’ve come to the right place!

Asking God for help.
(Like during your Organic Chemistry final)
We call this PRAYER.

Doing what Jesus would do.
(For instance, actually attending Organic Chemistry class once in a while)
We call this DISCIPLESHIP.

Helping each other.
(Think study partner for your Organic Chemistry final)
We call this FELLOWSHIP.

Telling God “thanks.”
(Especially after passing your Organic Chemistry final)
We call this WORSHIP.

Transforming the world.
(Using Organic Chemistry to alleviate diseases that afflict impoverished countries)
We call this WITNESS.

Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship is focused on transforming our world, locally and around the globe. We strive to be multicultural. We experience the supernatural. We work hard to learn from and join with international students. We see that faith and thinking are related!

The apostle Paul explains in 2 Corinthians 5:20 that we are called to be “Christ’s Ambassadors,” Christoi Apostoloi in Greek. This is abbreviated with the letters “X” (CHI) and “A” (ALPHA), and this is where we get our name! It is a reminder that we should live to reflect Jesus and show His love to all people!

1. Chi Alpha wants to be a fellowship who believes and trusts in a big God as He revealed Himself to us in the Bible. He is limitless, loving, faithful, personal, and supernatural (yes, He can still part the Red Sea and help you pass Calculus!)

2. Chi Alpha wants to be a fellowship of believers who are radically in love with Jesus – a group who lives out the Great Commandment “to love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength” on a daily basis. (Mark 12:29-31)

3. Chi Alpha wants to be a fellowship who sees the Great Commission – to go and make disciples of all nations – as its personal mandate by living lives to reach those God has put around us here at GSU as well as those around the world!

4. Chi Alpha is a fellowship who desires to be transformed into the image of Christ and purposefully lives their lives in a way that will help them be who God wants them to be! (Romans 8:29)

The Plug – Our weekly worship service, every Tuesday night @ 8pm, Wesley Chapel. The Plug offers great worship and relevant teaching.

Network – Our fellowship events, like tailgating and retreats.

Download – Our discipleship ministry, we have Freshman Hood Groups for both guys and girls during the week which helps foster brotherHood and sisterHood. We also have Men and Women’s Bible Studies.

Upload – Our outreach ministry teams and Leadership Training. We have plenty of ways to reach out and “make a difference at GSU.”
